When we are in darkness, we need to know there is light somewhere.
It may take a while to get out of, and feel strange when we are finally free, because we have grown accustomed to desperation.
But everything in life serves a purpose- it may not turn out the way you planned, but every experience was meant to teach you; about yourself and others, and to connect you with the universe.
With that realization; every heartache, loss, and tear shed is a lesson; one to look back on, smile, and say: I've learned from it, and am now a better person because of it.
You
(2000 – Revised 2009)
I sit in the corner watching everyone,
As I feel myself become undone,
I grab my knees and begin to cry,
Yearning for myself to die.
Does anyone truly care?
Suddenly I feel a stare…
Then I see you;
Eyes pale as the moon,
With skin so fair,
And beautiful blond hair.
As I brace myself for more lies,
You lift my chin and dry my eyes,
You ask me what’s wrong, and say you care,
So I explain my desire to disappear.
“Come with me”. You say, and I am lifted from the ground,
And taken to a place deemed safe and sound.
“In this place there is no pain,
Never rivalry, nor disdain.
Here you are free from sorrow,
And the emptiness that would follow.”
So secret and melancholy free
This seemed a hopeless dream to me.
I wanted to believe, to let myself go,
But my doubt soon began to grow.
“What is this? Where are we?
Who are you? Why choose me?”
I had so many questions to ask,
My suspicions I could no longer mask.
I could not face you
For fear of the truth.
I did not believe I deserved this,
But still you moved in for a kiss.
I shied away and asked your name
I could not treat this as a game
When you offered no reply,
It only made me want to pry.
When still I heard nothing I turned around;
Realizing I was alone, in this place (so safe and sound).

Struck with inspiration;
Trying to capture the mood.
Wanting to get out and enjoy the day;
Not wanting to sit and brood.
